Chin Liposuction
Double Chin Liposuction – Is it for You?
Cosmetic concerns that were once only fixed with face lifts or chin tucks can now be handled quickly and easily with chin liposuction procedures. Performed under local anesthetic, there is less blood loss and less trauma to the skin and body; recovery is swift and relatively painless.
Finding a Professional
Beware of plastic surgeons advertising with gaudy ads on the Internet. There is an advertisement announcing set prices for procedures at a 1-800-toll-free line. This is not an advisable method for finding the most qualified professional to perform your chin liposuction. You want to see credentials, offices, demeanor, and references from previous clients. If the physician you are consulting with is hesitant (or too eager) to give any information you request, find another doctor.
The Benefits of Looking Good
For someone who needs the fat deposits under their jaw line reduced, chin liposuction is a very viable alternative. The loose, hanging flesh can be eliminated, and you can start to look and feel revitalized after about a week. Because the incision is located beneath the jaw line, they are a minor inconvenience and are very hard to see, even upon close inspection. Even though the amount of fat removed is limited, it is often enough to make a significant difference in someone’s appearance.
Recovery
Many patients who undergo chin liposuction surgery are able to return to work the next day. A qualified surgeon advises the patient whether or not the procedure will create the desired outcome. It is advisable to consult with a plastic surgeon who specializes in the head and neck, as chin liposuction is a more likely to cause visible repercussions.
The Weekend Neck Lift
A “weekend neck lift” is basically chin liposuction (without the lifting or tucking of other skin) performed on a Friday, thus allowing the healing process to occur over the weekend. The patient can usually return to work within two or three days. However, while the procedure does result in a small visible result, it does not create the drastic change in appearance of the combined procedures.
A Chin Retainer?
After chin liposuction, an elastic device is worn for a few days to hasten the tightening of the skin. With aged or stretched skin, additional tucking or lifting procedures of the face may be required, as the skin may have lost its elasticity or ability to be tightened using non-surgical means.
The Issue of Insurance and Deductions
As with other similar procedures, insurance generally does not cover the costs of chin liposuction or other elective cosmetic procedures. Some offices offer no-interest payment plans, others use outside funding services. Whether or not chin liposuction or other elective surgery is a financial obligation to which you are willing to commit. Some tax deduction advantages may be allowable on an individual basis, but patients should consult IRS Publication 502 for further information.
